Steel production reached 66,000 tons in 1934-35 . इसऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-पात उतऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-पादन सन् 1934-35 में 6,6000 टन तक पहुंच गया .

Steel production consists of two stages : first , the production of pig iron and , second , its conversion into finished steel . इस्पात का उत्पादन दो अवस्थाओं में होता है-प्रथम ढलवा लोहे का उत्पादन , दूसरे , इसको परिष्कृत इस्पात में बदलना .

However , they were still behind schedule and , though they commenced steel production in 1959-60 , their operations had not stabilised till 1962 . यद्यपि सन् 1959-60 में इन्होंने इस्पात-निर्माण कार्य शुरू कर दिया , इनके संचालन में सन् 1962 तक भी स्थिरता नहीं आयी .

Together with an output of 6 lakh tonnes by arc furnaces , the total finished steel production in 1976-77 was 7.52 million tonnes or nearly a fifth higher than in the previous year . भट्ठियों द्वारा 6 लाख टन के उत्पादन के साथ , सन् 1976-77 में कुल तैयार इस्पात उत्पादन 75.2 लाख टन अथवा पहले वर्ष की अपेक्षा लगभग पांचवां हिस्सा अधिक हुआ .

Encouraged by the breakthrough achieved in steel production in the Second Plan , official and non-official agencies busied themselves with appraisal and re-appraisal of steel demand in the years to come . दूसरी योजना में , इस्पात उत्पादन में प्राप्त सफलता से प्रोत्साहित होकर , सरकारी और गैरसरकारी संस्थाऍं , आने वाले वर्षों में इस्पात की मांग का मूल्यांकन तथा पुनर्मूल्यांकन करने में व्यस्त हो गयीं .
